Eating Disorders Treatment at Mirasol is for women 18 and up combines cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic therapies with alternative therapies proven effective in the treatment of chronic stress-related conditions. Featured therapies include EMDR, polarity therapy, psychodrama, acupuncture, body image work, art therapy, dance-movement therapy, trauma resolution and yoga as well as group process and individual psychotherapy. Mirasol was one of the early adopters of neurofeedback in the treatment of eating disorders, and has (3) BrainPaint systems to ensure that all clients receive regular EEG biofeedback training.

Mirasol is an eating disorders treatment residential center dedicated to integrative treatment of anorexia, bulimia and compulsive eating.  They believe that eating disorders are the result of chronic stress and trauma, and emphasize therapies that have proven successful in the treatment of other stress-related conditions.  Instead of focusing on suppressing eating disorder symptoms, they identify the root of the problem and develop new ways of communicating and coping that restore and maintain overall balance. They believe that the skills they teach are more effective and longer lasting than restrictive protocols, and provide the opportunity to practice those skills in a safe environment that supports change.

They offer residential treatment programs for teen girls ages 12 to 17 and for women ages 18 and up. In addition, their new Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) offers short-term, effective eating disorders treatment for adolescent (both male and female) ages 12 to 17.

Mirasol has been fully licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services Office of Behavioral Health Licensure since 1999 and certified by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) since 2006.  With a 3:1 staff-client ratio, they offer extraordinary individual attention and tailor our eating disorders treatmentto the individual client’s needs.  They have small, intimate residences (limited to a maximum of 10 clients) in southern Arizona’s majestic Sonoran Desert.  Mirasol’s Medical Director is a naturopathic physician, and their clinicians use non-pharmaceutical alternatives whenever possible to enhance and restore the body’s natural ability to combat illness.
